Discolored Water

Are you experiencing discolored water?

Late Monday, the new upgraded pump station on CR 319 was officially put on line. The new pump station is capable of pushing over 2,650 gpm (gallons per minute) into the distribution system an increase of over 1,000 gpm with the older booster pumps. Our concern was the increase in flow rate would stir up iron inside the distribution piping and cause water discoloration. The flow rate was controlled to about 1,500 gpm and flushing along CR 319 was ongoing all afternoon and into the evening to prevent discolored water from getting into the distribution system downstream. Are you drinking enough Water this Winter?

Chapped lips? Dry skin? Headaches? Nosebleeds? Dry cough? Fatigue?

These are all signs that you might not be getting enough water this winter. In the summer, when you’re hot and sweaty, your body keeps reminding you that you’re thirsty and NEED water. But in the winter, when you’re cold and shivering, it’s all-too-easy to neglect hydration. Your body doesn’t feel as thirsty, and it’s much harder to recognize that you haven’t been drinking much water. That’s why you have to consciously remember to drink enough water in the winter, when the air is dry and the heater is working overtime.
